InForm is a two-year collaborative project between the National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts & History and the Design and Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI). It culminates in a vibrant exhibition, which showcases contemporary Irish ceramics and jewellery by twenty-two emerging makers, next to the Museum objects that inspired them. Museum objects chosen by the makers during the InForm project reflect the diversity and breadth of NMI’s collection. Students used historical pieces from the Museums’ collection as inspiration for their contemporary pieces. The design challenge for this project was to create a visual identity for the exhibition that showcases artefacts from the museum collection with new contemporary pieces while effectively presenting the concept of this exhibition.

Lead images were motivated by students choosing an artefact from the Museum’s collection and this piece, in turn, inspired their new work. The resulting image shows a Museum piece looking into a mirror to find a new version of itself, designed and made by an emerging maker. It demonstrates the process and shows both objects in one image.
